Dutch authority expects first fines under GDPR in 2019

The Dutch privacy authority 'Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens' expects to hand out the first fines under the GDPR. It currently has several lines of enquiry open into alleged breaches of the GDPR. This news came after the authority announced earlier four categories of GDPR breaches.

The Netherlands reported the most data breaches (15,400 incidents), followed by Germany (12,600) and the United Kingdom (10,600). Those with the lowest number of breaches reported include Lichtenstein (15), Iceland (25), and Cyprus (35).

50 Million Euro penalty for Google in France

On 21 January 2019, the CNIL’s restricted committee imposed a financial penalty of 50 Million euros against the company GOOGLE LLC, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), for lack of transparency, inadequate information and lack of valid consent regarding the ads personalization.
